Before Assign can import sequences, a license key must be installed on your PC.
This license key is tied to an individual computer and may have an expiry date.
Assign will display the dialogue shown below if the license key is not valid.
This message is displayed in any of the situations described below.
1. The key has expired.
If Assign has previously been working and subsequently displays this message, it means that your license key has passed its expiry date. Please contact support@conexio.iinet.net.au to renew the license key.
2. The license key file is missing or in the wrong folder.
The picture below shows a list of the files that should be present in the Assign folder.
The default location for this folder is "C:\Program Files\Conexio Genomics".
Please note that there are 2 keys on this computer. "keyA.lic" is for anyone with an administrator level account on the PC. "keyL.lic" is for users with a limited account on the PC. In cases where there are no administrators using the computer, "keyA.lic" is not needed.
3. The incorrect hardware id has been supplied
Each license key is valid for a single PC. In order to generate a key, we need to obtain a unique hardware identifier for you PC. This number is generated when the program is installed. The best way to inform us of the number is to copy and paste it into an e-mail during installation. However, it is possible to regenerate the number.
- Browse to the Assign folder as shown in the figure above.
- Open the "data" folder.
- Open the "utilities" folder.
- Click on "hardwareid_keygen.exe" and copy the number (you can highlight it and press <CTRL>+C to copy it to the clipboard). Paste it into a mail and send it to us atsupport@conexio.iinet.net.au
4. The Administrator key is missing.
If "keyA.lic" is not present and an administrator logs on to the PC, they will be unable to launch the program.
